Just By Chance is more than a band—it’s a cosmic convergence of sound, storytelling, and interstellar coincidence.
On guitar and vocals, David “Hammer” Anderson brings decades of rock ’n’ roll experience—and one heck of a backstory. A veteran of bands like Brixton Blues Band, Armageddon, SNAFU, Shattered Image, and Hammer’s Electric Blues Band, Dave’s legendary status includes inventing the E major chord (Nobel Prize, 1975) and a brief alien abduction outside a Walmart. Though temporarily disoriented and holding his guitar upside down, he bounced back with prayer, persistence, and a proper grip. These days, he still scans the skies from his hometown of Bartlett, NH—just in case the mothership returns.
John MacDermott lays down the bass with the thunder and tenderness of a bull moose in love. A product of the late Bronze Age, John started bass in high school because “who needs those extra two strings anyway?” After a misguided bike trip from Philly to Roswell, NM (he ended up in New Hampshire instead), John found himself in the Mount Washington Valley jamming at open mics with local legends—and aliens. Now, when he’s not performing with Just By Chance, he’s recording unheard masterpieces as Bin Diver.
On drums and vocals is Ed Bradley, who quite literally landed in North Conway from another galaxy. Intent on reaching Roswell, his GPS had other plans. Thankfully, Ed’s intergalactic detour brought his percussive genius to Earth, where he learned that drums never hit back. With a natural rhythm and a rumored third lung, Ed’s voice rings out like a humpback whale with a jazz background. When he’s not drumming or singing, he’s mentoring young earthlings on the slopes and golf course—living proof that anything is possible (especially if your anatomy includes gills).
Together, they are Just By Chance—a band where the music is tight, the stories are strange, and the vibe is out of this world. Catch them at the Red Parka Pub… if the aliens don’t first.
